What leathers do you use?
All shoes, bags & Leathergoods are made using premium leather hides from gold-rated Italian tanneries, including Badalassi Carlo, Horween, Walpier, and Charles F Stead.
I work with a deliberately limited palette, colours chosen for longevity and ease of wear over many years. A high-quality bag or purse is designed to last several decades (potentially a lifetime), and a restrained colour choice supports that longevity.
The current swatch includes, full grain smooth leather: black, coffee, oak, tawny, plum, spruce. Specific styles use a pebble grained, bark tan leather, noted in the listings.
A lighter-weight oak bark tanned leather is used for decorative elements, chosen to correspond with the main leather colour.
Who makes the bags & shoes?
All Dulcie May products are designed and made by me, Ren, in my woodland studio. I have been making bags & shoes for decades, working entirely by hand using vintage sewing machines and traditional techniques.
How long before delivery?
Made-to-order bags are dispatched within 6 weeks. Made-to-order shoes expect 10 weeks.
Tracking details are provided at the time of dispatch.
UK orders are fully insured.
International orders are insured up to a value of £250 only.
*USA customers only - No need to worry about the newly imposed tariff charges. I will post via the Royal Mail PDDP scheme which enables your parcel to quickly reach you. Usual customs charges may apply as before.
In the event of damage or loss, please contact the postal service directly using the tracking information provided. Damaged parcels must be photographed before opening, with packaging retained, in order to make a claim.
Can I return my order?
All made-to-order products are final sale and non-refundable. Each item is made specifically for you, using costly materials and many hours of skilled work.
Ready Made / Stock items can be returned, unused, unopened & in their original packaging within 14 days, as per UK distance selling laws. Refunds are subject to condition of the returned product and will include a 10% deduction for handling / restocking / & fees that I will have had to pay for the sale.
